David and Lesley Cohn, the husband and wife team behind San Diego's Cohn Restaurant Group (The Prado at Balboa Park, C-Level), is preparing to open BO-Beau Kitchen + Rooftap in Downtown Long Beach this winter. The two floor, 13,722 square foot restaurant designed by Spacecraft is an extension of Bo-Beau Kitchen & Bar, which launched three years ago in San Diego.
The ground floor will house a dining room (similar to this though more industrial) and 40-seat bar/lounge, meanwhile the second floor "rooftap" will function as an outdoor beer garden with 50 rotating taps focused on Cali brews plus other domestic micro beers. Of course craft cocktails and even 100+ vodkas.
While an executive chef has yet to be hired, Bo-Beau in Long Beach will serve a menu similar to its original location, focused on modern Cali-French cuisine, with a wood-fired oven for flatbreads and such. The upstairs beer garden is going for a more casual bill of fare to complement the brews.
