Behold, The Church Key, a surprisingly rustic yet contemporary number at 8730 W. Sunset, open for friends and family service as of tonight, with a public debut rolling out Thursday at 5:30 p.m. This is the eclectic and playful American dim sum restaurant cheffed by Steven Fretz (XIV), with reworked classic cocktails by Devon Espinosa (ink., The Tasting Kitchen). Looking for pig ear "Cheetos" or Falafel Croquettes? This is your spot.
While that stacked log wall does look similar to the one at Goldie's, there's an overall industrial feel and a plethora of sofas and club chairs for a more laid back meal or round of drinks. A smart addition to WeHo right by Eveligh, likely to attract a similar dining and drinking demographic. Hours run daily from 5:30 to 2 am (kitchen closes at 11 p.m. but the dim sum cart rolls until close).
