SF's Philz Coffee to LA; Lemonade Hiring For Studio City

AROUND TOWN—Philz Coffee, a hipster-approved San Francisco-based coffeehouse chain that also sells pastries and sandwiches, is expanding to Los Angeles. Management has yet to sign a lease but expects to open within the next year. Job requirements: "Must be able to stand for long period times, lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds, use fingers and hands..." [Craigslist]

PASADENA— ConfeXion, the sweets shop responsible for the T?donut and a strong cronut knockoff, is rolling out a candy corn gelato macaron sandwich for Halloween on Halloween. Think candy corn gelato sandwiched between vanilla macarons for $5 a pop. They're making witches fingers, too. [EaterWire]

AROUND TOWN— Conrad Murray, the doctor notoriously convicted of contributing to Michael Jackson's death, was released from prison on Monday after two years. His first stop? In-N-Out for a double double with grilled onions and fries. [Daily Dish]

VENICE— Just an FYI, Venice is installing parking meters by Abbot Kinney, which means less free parking to dine at places like Gjelina, The Tasting Kitchen, and Axe. Those lots on Electric from California to Santa Clara land meters come March. [LAW via LAist]

STUDIO CITY— For all those awaiting Lemonade on Ventura, management started hiring employees last week with plans to launch in early December. [ELA]
