Jonathan Gold Does Omakase at Sushi Zo Downtown

New, 13 comments
Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Peer into the life of LA Times restaurant critic Jonathan Gold, seated here at the omakase counter at Sushi Zo, the new temple to high-end sushi in Downtown's Old Bank District. Sushi chef Keizo Seki is at the helm here serving 25-plus courses of sushi, which is best experienced when diners say that "eat everything."

This omakase-only spot instantly becomes one of the best places to get sushi in Downtown, up there with the counter at the always-crowded Sushi Gen. It seems reasonable to assume that Gold will be publishing a review on the place in the coming weeks, as reports here suggest that the experience in Downtown might even surpass the meal in West LA.

Jonathan Gold's anonymity generally isn't considered preserved at this point, as he's made plenty of public appearances in recent years.
