The Bucket Gets Kicked Down After 78 Years

New, 2 comments

Longtime local favorite The Bucket closed suddenly last week after the current owner was unable to reach a lease agreement with the landlord, who apparently wants to redevelop the property. The Eagle Rock burger shack's owner, George Eckley, had run the business for the past six years, but the place had been around since 1935, surviving wars and depressions since. A notice on the restaurant's website states, "We are sorry ...but due to the loss of our lease we will be closed indefinitely."

The humble shack was a gathering place for Eagle Rock locals, who seemed shocked at the sudden closure. The Bucket was listed as one of LA's best old school burger joints, known for serving over the top ingredients like two half-pound patties, bacon and ham in a creation called The Cardiac.
