Pork cutlet specialist Kimukatsu opened its second LA location this past Monday without much fanfare in a highly desirable slot on Sawtelle's restaurant row. The space is sparse, and perhaps a little too minimalist, but maybe that's to let diners focus on the real task at hand. On offer is the mini-chain's famous 25-layer katsu, which starts at $15 an order and costs $19 for the set. Overall the menu has a similar bill of fare to the one in Culver City, which opened up just a few weeks ago.
This spot in Little Osaka should see a bit more action than the one in Culver, with the ever-popular Sawtelle scene drawing the young dining crowd that hangs out at the likes of Tsujita, Seoul Sausage, Tatsu Ramen, and Kula. The katsu chain, which has dozens of outlets in Japan, now counts three locations in the U.S.
