Open less than ten months, Bamboo Izakaya in Santa Monica is now closed. According to the website, Asian fusion small plates restaurant is combining with the adjacent members-only club 41 Ocean and becoming 41 Ocean Restaurant. Apparently the clean, cool decor wasn't enough to keep diners satisfied, as the place participated in numerous coupon deals to draw customers. Yelpers also complained about overpriced food and off-kilter service.

Says the website regarding the renovation: "We have temporarily closed our restaurant operations at Bamboo Izakaya. We wish to express our deep gratitude to all of you have been part of our Izakaya family and thank you for your support. We are undergoing a short remodeling and will reopen in early November as 41 Ocean Restaurant, as part of our existing 41 Ocean Club venture located just behind us." No word yet on the chef or partners behind the new operation.
