Home Brewed, The Freshest Coffee Bar in Pasadena

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Old Pasadena doesn't seem to stop wanting specialty coffee, this time with Home Brewed Bar, a decidedly lo-fi approach to coffee and tea that opened last week. Along with friendly staff and a wider range of drinks, like taro milk tea boba, cold brew, and vanilla hot chocolate, Home Brewed presents a "grassroots" process of brewing "different styles of refreshments from around the world," according to its website. Also consider plenty of seating and free WiFi, making it an ideal work or study hall.

The hood already has stalwarts Intelligentsia and Copa Vida, as well as nearby Jones lurking a few blocks away. And don't count out the extremely busy Urth Caffe that opened a few months ago down Colorado. But now, one more option. Home Brewed serves 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays.
