MID-CITY— The Varsity Sports Bar on Wilshire by Crescent Heights is about to be reborn next weekend as Rivalry Sports Bar & Grill, reports Urban Daddy. The space is pretty basic with polished wood, exposed brick, and many televisions for sports viewing. Also expect 16 beers on tap and bar bites. [Urban Daddy]

DOWNTOWN— Chef Neal Fraser's now annual Beefsteak fête, which benefits the LA Food Bank, is back December 7 at Vibiana Cathedral. Full detail here but this is a cocktail dinner party (menu on the DL) priced at $150 a head (8 p.m. entry) or $300 for VIP (7 p.m. entry).
