Rare By Drai's, a Social Gathering Steakhouse on Sunset

New, 3 comments

Much activity in the Sunset Plaza vicinity. In addition to the newly minted Church Key, just a few doors down, movie producer/nightlife developer Victor Drai is gearing up to launch Rare By Drai's, the French-inspired steakhouse that replaces BLT Steak. Flacks for the restaurant promise that Rare by Drai's will "serve the sexiest steaks in LA," in addition to expected characters like Spicy Tuna Tartare, steamed mussels and rack of lamb. The house special (a Drai favorite), executed by executive chef Patrick Florendo, is a Whole Roasted Loup de Mer with lemon and thyme atop fennel.

There indeed will be a DJ, plus a bar and lounge area with drinks by Chris Hewes, which actually should be pretty promising because he's responsible for the libations at Rustic Canyon and before that worked under Matthew Biancaniello at Library Bar. Slated to open in early December, note "the bar and lounge is designed to become the social gathering spot on Sunset Blvd."
