Glendale finally jumps onto the ramen bandwagon, just in time for this current swath of cold weather. Welcome Kanpai Ramen, which stands in the former Sushi GP space with the same ownership. In addition to ramen, the do-it-all shop also serves some izakaya-style bites, as well as sushi, making it a pleasant find for denizens who aren't willing to hop over to Little Tokyo or even San Gabriel Valley for more selection.

Still, the ramen choices, while perhaps not as ambitious as the likes of Tsujita or Ramen by Omae, start with the classic tonkotsu broth, then venture to shoyu, tomato, and spicy seafood. There's even a spicy tonkotsu broth for those that simply want it all.

Lunch combos start at around $8, making it a decent destination for the studios and offices nearby, while happy hour boasts cheap beer and sake from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The izakaya choices include yakitori, takoyaki (octopus balls), pork cutlet, and hamburg steak. Early Yelpage seems pretty positive. Hours run Monday to Thursday, noon to 10 p.m., and until 11 p.m. on the weekends.
