In a quick turnover, television chef Jeffrey Saad — finalist on The Next Food Network Star Season Five and host of United Tastes of America on Cooking Channel — has remade Out Take Bistro on Ventura Boulevard into La Ventura. Open as of Yesterday, Saad is serving modern Mexican dishes like crispy calamari tacos with sweet and spicy habanero pineapple salsa, duck confit mole, and larger share plates off the grill such as carne asada and a whole roasted fish.
Saad also has a solid selection of vegan dishes from a roasted Yucatan-style veggie tostada to a Soyrizo/pinto bean and spiced cauliflower taco. Around a small rear full bar one will find local beers but also ginger mojitos, and margaritas flavored with blackberry and habanero. Hours of operation presently run daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with weekend brunch beginning at 9 a.m.
