L'Assiette Replacing The Colonial in Feb; NYE at Girasol

New, 1 comment

MID-CITY— Looks like the deal went through. The Colonial on Melrose will be redrafted into a steak frites restaurant called L'Assiette come February. Vegetarians beware. Owner Jacques Fiorentino plans to offer just one entree, steak frites, plus soup and salad to start. The steak frites will arrive in two courses for optimal freshness. So, the diner will be served half the steak frites, and once that plate is finished the second half arrives. To end the meal, cheese and/or dessert. [LAT]

STUDIO CITY— Chef CJ Jacobson over at Girasol will forage your New Years Eve dinner from Angeles National Forest for $100 ( 7-9 p.m.) to $150 (9-11 p.m.) a head. Hunted ingredients are sweet clover, chestnuts, chrysanthemum, wood sorrel, and pine in plates like Young Tuna with California Winter Citrus, Five Star American Wagyu Strip Loin, and Wild Sweet Clover Ice Cream over Warm Chocolate Cake. AROUND TOWN— Here's a listicle of the 10 best bites in LA this past year, according to LAist. On the list, Bouchon Bakery's kouign amann, Hinoki & the Bird's pumpkin toast with miso jam, Superba's smoked buccatini, among others. [LAist]
