About one year ago, Top Chef Just Desserts alum Danielle Keene opened Bittersweet Treats, a Pasadena bakery spinoff of her dessert catering company by the same name, with help from partner Linda Chen. However, right before the Thanksgiving holiday, just as Bittersweet was preparing to fête its first birthday with an anniversary party, Keene sent out a note announcing that she had split from the bakery: "Hi! Just want to let everyone know I am no longer apart of Bittersweet the store so I will not be at the anniversary. I wish them success in the future. I will continue my dessert catering business as well as some restaurant consulting."
Following up on that note, Keene explains that she has parted ways with her business partner, citing "inexperience and unprofessionalism." Keene will no longer bear affiliation with the Bittersweet Treats brick and mortar, meanwhile she's providing desserts for Rascal on S. La Brea, the forthcoming Crossings restaurant in South Pas, and is working on a restaurant concept with an undisclosed restaurant group. As for the fate of the bakery, that remains to be seen.
