Back in September came news of Kris Keith's second restaurant venture, Ball & Chain, which took over the old Hong Kong Deli space on Cahuenga. Along with owner Marc Kreiner (The Morrison), the duo is bringing the meatball fad to L.A. in early 2014 with a long bar featuring craft beer, a domed roof, and wide oak plank seating in the typical over-slick Spacecraft Design style. Chef Michael Ruiz (Cobras & Matadors) is planning a selection of fancy meatballs in sliders, on top of greens, or in a hoagie. Expect vegan options, turducken, elk, and more on the meatball front. As for drinks, look forward to 20 beers on tap and more than 300 by bottle, creating a bonafide craft brew destination for the area.
