Looking just like those early renderings, this is Meizhou Dongpo, the new contemporary Sichuan restaurant at the Westfield Mall that replaces Ummba Grill by the dining deck. Part of a chain that first launched in Beijing almost two decades ago, Meizhou Dongpo soft opened yesterday with an indoor/outdoor layout and a covered exterior bar. Definitely a more slick, modern take than locations abroad.
The expansive, somewhat pricey menu offers a little something for everyone. Have a hankering for brined duck wings and feet? Or maybe just some mapo tofu? Meizhou Dongpo's got you covered. Signature dishes here are the $68 Meizhou roast duck served with rice pancakes, scallions, cucumber, garlic, and duck sauce; and the $48 Maine lobster sautéed with ginger and scallion.
