San Francisco's La Boulange Bakery Coming to La Brea

New, 2 comments

In the past week, a handful of readers have sent over curious emails as to recent ABC signage on La Brea at 4th connected to "Bay Bread LLC." Is this related to San Francisco's La Boulange French bakery and cafe chainlet that was bought by Starbucks this past spring for $100 million? As it turns out, yes it is. Reps for La Boulange say that the bakery should open at the end of January, although judging by construction that estimate looks a bit aggressive. This will be La Boulange's first Los Angeles outlet, run by Starbucks on the corporate side, similar in food/drink to San Francisco bakeries, with the addition of beer and wine.

Update: Per La Boulange reps, the bakery and cafe is set to launch spring 2014 and will be operated by La Boulange.

La Boulange was founded in 1999 by French baker Pascal Rigo on Pine Street in San Francisco. Similar to nearby La Brea Bakery, which is less than a block away, La Boulange will sell assorted breads, baked goods, sandwiches, salads, that kind of thing. [EaterWire]
