Local cooking queen Suzanne Goin has her hand in many cookie jars these days, and yet she has another project on the horizon. It's unclear exactly how this will play out and reps are staying mum on the subject, but behold this here Craigslist ad: "James Beard award winning chef Suzanne Goin and James Beard nominated Caroline Styne seek dynamic individuals to join our exciting new concept, The Larder Baking Company." The tried and true AOC, Tavern, Lucques duo is searching for a bakery sous chef to work at their "brand new, 8,000 square foot wholesale commercial bread bakery in the Culver City/Mar Vista area."
Larder Baking Co — clearly linked to Goin/Styne's Larder set of casual eateries which continue to spring up throughout the city — has a website that credits Nathan Dakdouk as the talent behind the bread. He's been baking for Goin "out of a small bakeshop in West Los Angeles" since 2009 and his artisan breads and pastries service Goin's restaurants (probably her husband's too) plus other wholesale accounts. So, it sounds like Larder Baking Company is becoming more of a realized entity and, as mentioned above, is expanding into a substantial baking operation. However, the real question here is whether Larder Baking Company will incorporate a retail component and/or Larder cafe. Perhaps.
