SANTA MONICA— Brooklyn-based cheffy brothers Max (Roberta's) and Eli Sussman (Mile End Delicatessen) are cooking on December 8 at Huckleberry to promote their new book of cookery, Best Cookbook Ever. Extra points for that name. Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m., costs $70/head (includes a copy of the book), and will involve plates like Roasted Winter Squash with Chestnuts & Celery Vinaigrette, and Lamb Shanks with Duck Fat Potatoes. VENICE— The Depressed Cake Shop pop-up, a charity bake sale that aims to raise awareness for mental health issues, is returning to Venice with its gray-hued cookies, cake pops, macaroons, and more. This time it's going down at St. Joseph Center (204 Hampton Drive) on December 13 ( 6-9 p.m.) and 14 (10 a.m. until sold out). Proceeds go to St. Joseph Center and NAMI Westside. [EaterWire]
