Venice is quickly becoming the mecca for Westside coffee lovers, with Menotti's pulling quality shots down on Windward and Intelligentsia holding the banner high just down Abbot Kinney. A quick look inside the upcoming Blue Bottle Coffee in the former French 50s60s boutique shows the breaking of ground toward the far wall of the inside, with contractors tables showing plans for the build out. With a large storefront and a long back counter in the works, a line out the door might be a tough proposition for the San Francisco transplant. Blue Bottle plans to bake up their own pastries on site, though roasting will take place somewhere else, perhaps in Culver City. The cafe hopes to open by Spring 2014.
