WEST HOLLYWOOD— David Cooley, founder of West Hollywood's most celebrated gay bar The Abbey, will announce plans for his next project, Cooley's (which replaces Raffi's Jewelry, Bailamos Dance Studio and Unicorn Alley on Santa Monica Boulevard at Robertson), tomorrow from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Abbey. Reps for the forthcoming 10,000 square foot venue describe the concept as "West Hollywood's first modern gastropub restaurant and beer garden," which will meld indoor and outdoor space, with inspiration derived from the adjacent West Hollywood Park. Tomorrow's reception is supposedly the first of several preview events before Cooley presents his proposal to the City of West Hollywood for approval. [EaterWire]
SHERMAN OAKS— Café De México, just around the corner from Hugo's Tacos on Riverside Drive, has received a license to start serving beer and wine as of December 18. [EaterWire]
