This morning SBE officially declared its intent to transform Vegas' defunct Sahara Hotel and Casino into SLS Las Vegas with a slew of LA-based restaurant and nightlife brands. Expected to debut in the fall of 2014, SLS Vegas — to be designed by LA-based Gensler Architects and Philippe Starck — is bringing in usual suspects like The Bazaar by José Andrés, Katsuya by Starck and Umami Burger, but also breakfasty LA spot famous for its red velvet pancakes, The Griddle Café. As far as nightlife is concerned, the property will house four evening haunts, two of which are confirmed to include The Sayers Club and oldie Shelter. Yes, Shelter is making its comeback, Vegas-style. There's also going to be a 10,000-square foot Fred Segal which will served as "the exclusive retailer for SLS Las Vegas."
