Today, the James Beard Foundation announced the semifinalists for this year's restaurant and chef awards. The final nominees will be named on March 18 and will be streamed live on Eater National. Of note: BierBeisl's Bernhard Mairinger is a Rising Star Chef semifinalist along with Kris Yenbamroong of Night+Market, Suzanne Goin and Nancy Silverton are both semifinalists for Outstanding Chef, and BierBeisl and Tar & Roses are on the list in the Best New Restaurant category. Here, Los Angeles' standout semifinalist candidates:

Outstanding Bar Program: Rivera, The Varnish
Outstanding Chef: Suzanne Goin (Lucques), Nancy Silverton (Pizzeria Mozza)
Outstanding Pastry Chef: Karen Hatfield (The Sycamore Kitchen)
Outstanding Restaurant: Mélisse, Patina
Outstanding Restaurateur: Sam Fox (True Food Kitchen), Piero Selvaggio (Valentino), Caroline Styne (Lucques)
Outstanding Service: Providence
Rising Star Chef: Bernhard Mairinger (BierBeisl), Kris Yenbamroong (Night +Market)
The awards will take place at a gala event on Monday, May 6 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in New York City.
