The Courtyard Kitchen Opens, Jordan Kahn in NY, More!

SANTA MONICA— The Courtyard Kitchen has officially replaced Il Sogno on Montana. Toddrickallen says the eatery is up and running with a Mediterranean breakfast and lunch menu. [Toddrickallen]

AROUND TOWN— Slater's 50/50 is rolling out another crazy burger, and this time the creation is called the Drunken Steak Burger, on offer next month. Think NY strip steak infused with a Guinness and molasses marinade, Roma tomatoes roasted in Jameson Irish Whiskey, arugula, provolone, red peppers, bacon, with a Guinness and blue cheese dressing. DOWNTOWN— Unfortunately, chef Paul Shoemaker's new mall-centered burger concept, Juicy Lucy, doesn't do the trick for A Hamburger Today: "Of course, any Juicy Lucy burger should be measured primarily on the patty, and this is what turned me off most about this burger. The beef itself didn't betray any proper browning (the griddle temp was probably too low) and it lacked any distinct seasoning. It had that refrigerator burn taste of commercial beef. Add to this a surprisingly uncheesy center and it's a wonder how they get repeat customers ..." [AHT]

NYC— Red Medicine's Jordan Kahn is heading to New York to cook with Alex Stupak at Empellon Cocina. Kahn takes to the kitchen March 7 and 8 with two seatings offered each evening. [Eater NY]
