The Los Angeles Athletic Club, a fancypants members only exercise facility and hotel which includes several eating and drinking outfits, underwent a multi-million dollar renovation a couple years back headed by Tracy Beckmann (Mas Malo, Hotel Lautner) to refresh its antiquated digs. Coming the end of March or early April is a totally new look to the venue's third floor restaurant, bar, and club room, in addition to a new drink program by Marcos Tello and Aidan Demarest of Liquid Assets. Tello/Demarest will also set up an R&D lab on the hotel's fourth floor to train bartenders and test new drinks. Supposedly some sort of secret passage connects their lab to the third floor bar. Update: The restaurant will reopen as Famous Players and the bar as Invention.
