Today the LA Times pens a piece on the continual decline of Jewish delis in Los Angeles, but across the country, too. Stalwarts like 53-year-old Junior's Deli here in LA, Ashkenaz Delicatessen in Chicago, and Stage Deli in NYC have all shuttered within the last three months. Factors to blame: the recession, a new outlook on healthful and quick-serve eating, rising rent and food costs, and in LA a new thriving ethnic food scene. [LAT]
