Robertson Welcomes Raw to the Neighborhood

New, 1 comment

It took a few months, but Oishi Sushi on Robertson and Charleville is no more. As of yesterday, RAW has taken its place. The new sushi joint is owned and operated by Kyle Puranamaneewiwat, who also owns six other restaurants in the Southland, including Gindi Thai in Toluca Lake and The Bureau, a burger place in Emeryville.

RAW's sushi chef, Al Pisan, trained at a few other sushi restaurants around town, including some owned by Puranamaneewiwat and his partner. Pisan's menu is strictly Japanese, with a wide selection of raw dishes, rolls and sashimi. There are a few warm bites too, including some tempura, grilled fish and miso soup. Everything is meant to be approachable, with most dishes priced around $12 and an 11-course omakase option for $45. Open daily for lunch and dinner, RAW expects to multiply quickly with another location opening in Emeryville later this year.
