After nearly 25 years in business, the Featherstone family closed Glencrest Bar-B-Que on Abbot Kinney earlier this week. There's little time to mourn though, as the space is currently being demolished to make room for Belly Up, a new sandwich shop.
Owner Jon Swire wrote in to tell us about the menu, which will include rich, hearty sandwiches made from house-braised BBQ pork belly and chopped brisket — all cooked on the new smoker they're bringing in. There are deep-fried pickles on the menu as well, which will go well with too many drinks at the Brig, or when the Kogi line is just too damn long. With construction permits at the ready, Swire says Belly Up could start serving as early as late April.
