Welcome to Pingtung, a new Asian fusion cafe and market on Melrose which soft opens today. Owner Li Ping of NYC's Khin Khao, Kelley & Ping, Obeca Li, and Lozoo is now trying her hand on west coast sensibilities with an affordably priced small plate menu (still influx) stocked with dumplings, banh mi, ramen, and other mixed Asian dishes from Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Japan. This right here is the beer/wine/sake list, and in addition to dine-in patrons can purchase alcohol, spices, and snacks to take home. A back outdoor patio provides extra seating. Hours of operation run Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
