Sonny's Hideaway Coming to Highland Park this Spring

New, 15 comments

As it turns out David Eric Lyons — the guy reworking Highland Park Kitchen into Sonny's Hideaway — goes by Derek Lyons and is a first time restaurant operator. Although he has been in and around restaurants since age 15. And right now work is underway by Highland Park-based Wade Robinson (WadeCo Design) and carpenter Jim Jewett (SawHorse) to retool the space into a modern American comfort food place that also serves craft cocktails and primarily California beers and wines.

Lyons explains that the concept and vintage aesthetic were inspired by the discovery of an early 1940's Acme Brewery beer can left in the rafters of the building. He says, "the intent of Sonny's Hideaway is to honor the heritage of the historic Los Angeles neighborhood it serves." Look for an opening this spring.
