Well, it's unlikely that chef Matthew Kenney is lamenting the loss of Planet Raw. Kenney's M.A.K.E., a fancified raw restaurant and cooking school inside Santa Monica Place, is doing rather well and on Friday the chef will officially open an adjacent grab-and-go juice and smoothie bar called M.A.K.E. Out. Cute name. And just for the record, according to Facebook, M.A.K.E. Out appears to be soft serving right now. In addition to house-made kale chips, nut crackers, and (very pretty) chocolate truffles, expect seasonal juices/smoothies in flavors like Spice-C (orange, pineapple, cilantro, jalapeño), Carrot Punch (carrots, apple, lemon, ginger, cayenne), and Malted Chai (banana, dates, coconut meat, coconut water, cinnamon, macs).
