The Residency at UMAMIcatessen, Gratis Chivas, More!

DOWNTOWN— UMAMIcatessen is adding a new cooking series, The Residency, featuring chefs from across the country. First up is Micah Wexler (who devised UMAMIcatessen's list of eats for The Cure) of Mezze. Starting March 14, Wexler will cook a $45 menu inspired by Los Angeles' many diverse communities. HUNTINGTON BEACH— Bruxie, home to the sweet and savory waffle sandwich, opens its fifth location on April 16 at The Strand on 5th. [EaterWire]

HOLLYWOOD—From March 20 to April 1, Chivas Regal is setting up shop with a pop-up drinking outfit called Chivas Regal 1801 Club LA in this vacant space. CULVER CITY— A few notes about that new Shojin location on Washington. Management plans to launch at 5 p.m. on March 8, and resys for the opening day are pretty much booked.
