Big news in the world of sea animals. Downtown's esteemed Water Grill — an institution since 1991 focused on preparing some of the city's most pristine seafood and a restaurant that has fostered talent like chefs Michael Cimarusti (Providence) and David LeFevre (M.B. Post) — is opening a second location in Santa Monica. After a $1.5 million dollar revamp at its original location on Grand Avenue earlier this year, parent company King's Seafood is rebranding Ocean Avenue Seafood into another Water Grill. Not many details are available at this time but management is looking at a mid-summer debut. Above, a rendering of what's to come. [EaterWire]
