The Whaling Club, Tompkins Square Burger Deal, More!

MID-CITY— Dan Scott, assistant GM at Son of a Gun, along with his fiancé Marie Buck, have launched a pop-up cocktail party of sorts. It's called The Whaling Club and consists of a three drink tasting menu of newfangled classics "using fine ingredients and hand cut ice." Frank Anderson, Son of a Gun chef de cuisine, provides sea-centric bites, too. The next gathering takes place April 13 at 8 p.m. and there's a suggested donation of $40. Email here for a resy. ENCINO— A new undisclosed American quick-serve restaurant is set to replace the shuttered Islands in Encino Commons on Ventura Boulevard. The 7,500 square foot eatery is set to debut in the fall. [Patch]
