When Eater caught up with chef David LeFevre at Pebble Beach Food & Wine last week, he shared excitement for his upcoming 1,100 square foot, 36-seat seafood project Fishing with Dynamite, especially the restaurant's floor. And here it is. Designed by LeFevre's longtime friends Julie Fisher and Rachel Crowl of FC Studio, Fishing with Dynamite captures the feel of a modern beachside cottage. And don't miss the bleached-white wood-paneled raw bar which seats six and is topped with a vintage tub that will eventually hold chilled shellfish.
Just two doors down from LeFevre's popular M.B. Post, Fishing with Dynamite will serve a mix of ingredient-driven old school and modern seafood-focused plates. Think Grilled Octopus with Tomato-Harissa-Date Chutney, White Beans and Preserved Lemons; Miso Alaskan Black Cod with Gingered Eggplant and Thai Basil; New England Style Manilla Clam Chowder with Nueskies Bacon; and Maryland Style Blue Crab Cakes with Housemade Pickles and Whole Grain Remoulade. Non-seafood dishes sound like Flat Iron Steak with Shishito Peppers and Soy Lime Gastrique; and Crispy Pork Belly with White Corn Grits and Spiced Green Tomato Relish.
Fishing with Dynamite is equipped with a four seat cocktail bar. Jerry Garbus, partner and beverage director of M.B. Post, is overseeing the drinks here too, with attention to seafood-friendly beer and craft cocktails.
Slated to open late April, Fishing with Dynamite will serve dinner daily from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Lunch coming soon. Note, no reservations, walk-in only.
