Great news and a long overdue addition for Santa Monica. A Cut Above, a new neighborhood butcher shop on Santa Monica Boulevard near 26th, broke ground two weeks ago and is on schedule to open in May. Chef/owner Eddy Shin hails from The Tasting Kitchen and before that he served as executive chef of Primitivo Wine Bistro on Abbot Kinney for five years.
In addition to organic, natural, and local meats, A Cut Above will also offer an appealing list of sandwiches (porchetta, spicy steak banh mi, Cubano) and salads from the shop's deli counter. Also, local artisanal larder goods and some cheeses to take home. All together now: It's about time. [EaterWire]
