First time restaurateur Derek Lyons is ready to show off the polished interior of his New American eatery, Sonny's Hideaway, tonight for friends and family. And yes it is indeed quite a departure from Highland Park Kitchen. With a totally overhauled dark aesthetic comprised of a bar, oversized booths, and two tops, this is the handy work of Wade Robinson (WadeCo Design) and carpenter Jim Jewett (SawHorse).
Serving up a menu of New America comfort plates made with locally sourced ingredients, one will find executive chef Jimmy Everett in the kitchen. A chef with a rather promising background, having spent ample time working under Michael White in NYC. Expect dishes like red wine steamed, pan-seared octopus; coffee braised pork cheek with coconut milk and honeycomb; and mussels in a smoked grape broth.
