Status: Opens today
The wait is over, but it has also just begun. Because Manhattan Beach king, chef David LeFevre (MB Post), today launches his anticipated second beachside eatery, Fishing with Dynamite. But, the cozy mod cottage, designed by FC Studio, offers up just 36 seats and does not accept reservations. Four seats are available at a small bar that serves a short list of craft beers and a mix of fruity cocktails that call for ingredients like rhubarb, Thai basil, and violet.
As mentioned, Fishing with Dynamite pays homage to seafood, raw and cooked, preparations both new and old. Expect a healthy raw bar selection inclusive of California sea urchin, a bevy of oysters, lobster, crab, mussels, scallops, and clams. There's "chowdah," grilled octopus, black miso cod, and a version of tuna tartare with Asian pear and kimchi furikake. Hours of operation run 5 to 10:30 p.m. daily to start.
