Full details on Steve Livigni and Pablo Moix's Venice cocktail bar, Old Lightning, surface today on LAmag. Writer Caroline on Crack dishes that Livigni and Moix will open a small 25-seat bar behind an upcoming 5,000 square foot restaurant from Antonia Lofaso's (Black Market). They'll be doing a menu of about 25 classic cocktails, many of which will use vintage bottles of tequila, rum, Cointreau and other intoxicants procured from estate sales and "out-of-the-way" liquor stores.

No infusions, foams, tinctures, or other popular cocktail treatments that are common these days. Instead, a focus on bringing the "old drinking game back to the basics," building drinks using their rare bottles.

Inside, the drinkery will resemble a "swinging midcentury bachelor pad," with a more relaxed, tasteful vibe that's appropriate for the Westside. Like Livigni/Moix's other spots Pour Vous, La Descarga, and such, there will be a dress code, but they won't be stringent as the other places. Basically, the dress code is to keep out people in flip flops and shorts.

It looks like Livigni and Moix are looking to open Old Lightning some time in June. This news comes off the cocktail duo's recent acquisition of Central in Santa Monica.
