Welcome to Meanwhile, In SGV a regular feature in which TC, our fearless leader in all things San Gabriel Valley, brings word of restaurant openings, closings, and other unsung, curious neighborhood goings on.

1) Alhambra: Nha Trang, the oft-praised spicy Vietnamese beef noodle soup purveyor, is expanding again. Management seems to have a soft spot for spring, as the second branch of Nha Trang opened April of last year. At the current expansion rate, there will be more Nha Trangs than McDonalds in the West SGV by 2015. The third branch of Nha Trang will replace the long stagnant Sahee Vietnamese restaurant. 417 W. Main St.

2) Montebello: The Daily Brew, recently under new ownership, is hosting a grand opening party from noon to 5 p.m. on May 11. There will be free coffee and passed pastries. Partner Nalu Yip tells Eater that Golden State Coffee is currently custom roasting their single origin beans, and they're using Clever Brew for pour-over. Kana Lee, previously of SBE Katsuya, currently a partner at the ancient Shinano Cafe, Monterey Park, is also a partner at The Daily Brew. 137 N. Montebello Blvd. Ste. A

3) San Gabriel: Yogurtland is back and attempting to reignite the froyo wars in SGV for summer 2013. A year after faltering at a location a few miles south, Yogurtland recently opened in the 168 Plaza, immediately left of Young Dong Tofu. 927 E. Las Tunas Dr.

4) Rosemead: Sun City Seafood has switched ownership. The exterior English sign is the same, but the Chinese sign, as well as the ABC license, has changed. 7540 Garvey Ave.
