Office workers in Downtown will finally have a third wave, specialty coffee shop to score their daily buzz. Please welcome Barista Society, the brainchild of Charn Bak, who previously created Brew Bar at Santa Monica's Water Garden, Hollywood CNN Tower), to the fold of game changing Downtown coffee bars.

Located directly across from the L.A. Public Library and on the mezzanine of the U.S. Bank Tower, Barista Society will be brewing up a selection of top-notch roasters from around the country, including Stumptown, Heart Coffee, Blue Bottle, and Verve in a variety of formats. Think espresso, pour over, cold-brew, and 12-hour Kyoto drip (for the patient coffee drinkers). The name Barista Society came about as a way to emphasize baristas who enjoy sharing their passion for coffee.

Great news for nearby office workers who've had to settle for the likes of Starbucks and Coffee Bean until now. Instead of generic pastries, there's baked treats from B1 Breadshop. Also expect a high-quality selection of teas from Mem Tea, as well as full ceremonial Matcha tea prepared in the traditional way.

Barista Society will provide indoor seating as well as outdoor patio tables. Initial hours of operation will run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. A grand opening is set for May 28, with free lattes given away from 9 to 11 a.m. [Eaterwire]
