BoHo didn't last out in Hollywood, but Santa Monica darling Stella Rossa, known for its top notch pizzas executed by chef Jeff Mahin, has launched a sibling eatery under the name Stella Barra, with a similar look by architect Sam Marshall and an expanded neighborhood-friendly menu. Indeed pizzas topped with farmers market ingredients still claim the spotlight, but Mahin is branching out with more small plates (local burrata with roasted tomato jam and house-made bread; organic meatball with tomato, lardo, basil and oregano) and daily specials (crudos, house-made pastas), in addition to salads and sandwiches.
Those in the nabe looking for a quick bite in the AM can also stop by for bread, pastries, and breakfast dishes to-go sold from the restaurant's front breakfast counter.
