WOW. Culinary power quartet Anthony Carron (800 Degrees), Noah Ellis (Red Medicine), Steven Fretz (XIV, Curtis Stone), and Jamie Tiampo (an investor in NYC's dell'anima and L'artusi) are launching an old school fast casual roast beef sandwich eatery on June 17 called Top Round Roast Beef. In place of fried dough from Bee's Donuts (and once Pop's Burgers), they'll plate up a six sandwich menu of regionally inspired roast beef sandwiches.
Carron explains that his meat "starts with a 10-spice rub on a whole top round cut of beef, which is slow roasted for twelve hours, then sliced to order on a butter-toasted bun with natural au jus." He'll also serve curly fries (which diners can order "dirty" with gravy, Provel cheese, caramelized onions, and Round Sauce), frozen custard, milkshakes, malts, concretes (like a super thick milkshake with toppings and syrups) and sundaes. The menu will be reasonably priced from $4.75 to $6.45. Hours of operation to run daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Could this be the next Shake Shack? [EaterWire]
