Blue Plate Restaurant Group Inks Deal to Open on W. 3rd

New, 7 comments

Blue Plate Restaurant Group, those behind West Side neighborhood fixtures Blue Plate, Blue Plate Oysterette, and the newest Blue Plate Taco, are in escrow to hit West Third Street's restaurant row, snagging Tony Riviera's Luigi Osteria near Crescent Heights. While the deal is not yet finalized, it's likely to close soon. So, yes. Riviera's gameplan to switch up Luigi into Tribeca never came to fruition, although he says he's working on new projects. No word on specifics. Also, it's unclear which BP restaurant will hit 3rd Street. Or whether it's an entirely new BP concept. However, management has brought on chef Jason Niederkorn (he was supposed to run the kitchen at Restaurant 8730 which never got off the ground) as executive chef of all BP restaurants current and future.
