Couple Rose and David Lawrence of Red Bread — the social justice slow food eGrocer and farmers market bake stand — are about to turn their online business into a Culver City post and beam bakery, cafe and small retail market. In addition to stocking local artisan products and house-made pickles, yogurt, cheese, and ice cream, Red Bread will also sell a roster of organic house-baked goods and sweets from wild yeast sourdough bread to jammy newton cookies to chili pepper marshmallow clouds.
See a bunch of plywoody photos here as Red Bread takes shape. During the day the small space near Pitfire on W. Washington Boulevard will function as a place to stop by for breakfast, lunch and tea, with a daily changing sandwich, soup, and salad from which to chose. At night, the Lawrences will offer cooking classes and pop-up dinners. More to come.
