PALMS— Perry Cheung's Phorage still has papered up windows, but the space is nearly ready after a quick turnover from its former rendition as Roy Choi's Chego. The menu looks to have a polished list of pho, bun, and other Vietnamese classics that should be a boon for the neighborhood. Previews should be starting next week.
DOWNTOWN—: Dr. J's Vibrant Cafe, inside the Medallion in Downtown, is pretty much completed inside, with fixtures and furniture going into place after a rather quick build out. Chef Juliet Tien (the Dr. J) preps a vegan, meatless menu that should add another eating option on the crowded block.
SAWTELLE— Bachi Burger is thick into construction, with most of the interior still very raw. It's also applying for a new 41 license that will allow beer & wine. The Las Vegas transplant serving innovative takes on burgers and other comfort food might still have anywhere from three to six months before opening at this rate.
DOWNTOWN— Sushi Zo, one of the most anticipated restaurants to open in Downtown, the larger format of West LA's beloved Sushi Zo is into the middle of its construction. The high-ceilings should be a nice departure from the strip mall location of the original, though details on the interior finishes are yet to be revealed.
