From the team behind Bacaro LA — Danny and Bobby Kronfli plus chef Lior Hillel — comes Nature's Brew, a casual new breakfast, lunch, and dinner place opening July 6. Located just two doors down from Bacaro, the Kronfli brothers re-designed the former Ragazzi Room with the intent to create an open eatery conducive to socializing over coffee and food. The beans served here hail from Intelligentsia and local roaster Pasquini, but for those less caffeine-inclined there's juices and smoothies. Obviously.
Chef Hillel is mostly serving sandwiches and salads, plus some house-baked goods (even bread is baked onsite twice daily). In the AM it's egg sandwiches, perhaps a short rib sandwich with pickled red onion and walnut pesto or a chopped salad dressed with kale tahini for lunch. A grab-and-go area caters to students on the run. As mentioned, Hillel is also testing a "meals in a bag" or en papillote preparation — chicken or fish comes with one's choice of quinoa, rice, cracked wheat or red rice, topped with harissa and cured lemon, or basil and sun-dried tomato butter. It's all super laid-back here. Order at the counter then grab a seat.
