WESTWOOD— UMini on Westwood Boulevard released a new menu yesterday, upgrading those smaller burger patties from 5-ounces to the Umami norm of 6-ounces. In other Umami news, that Mayer Hawthorne-designed burger, for sale in Hollywood last fall, is back on the menu in Hollywood and at The Grove starting July 16. Also, the Umami truck is going to trail around town from July 10 to 17, and Hawthorne himself will, at some point, make an appearance. [EaterWire]
DOWNTOWN/OC— Daniel Shemtob of The Lime Truck and TLT Food in Westwood is looking to go post and beam with two more restaurant locations in Downtown and Orange County. Details are on the DL for now. [EaterWire]
OC— Tons of breweries are situated between OC and San Diego, and a new juice bar is taking a page from the beer book, offering juice-filled growlers. The aptly titled Growl Juice Pub, a project from partners Josh Nichols and Jenna Toscas, opens today in Old Towne Orange with a roster of organic raw juices, nut milks, and smoothies. See menus. LOS ANGELES— Yelp has created a heat map thing that shows you where Yelpers use various words — such as hipster, tourist, hangover, frat, and more — to describe specific locations. So where the hipsters at? (Yelp has recognized "hipster" as an ambience since 2011.) Los Angeles, among other cities. [Eater National]
