EMC Seafood in K-Town; Bocuse d'Or Dinner at Melisse

New, 2 comments

K-TOWN— Indeed more seafood for Los Angeles. Those behind the Wokcano chain and Le Ka have soft spun EMC Seafood & Raw Bar, a spic and span New American seafood joint (mostly surf, less turf) plus oyster bar. Urban Daddy has a copy of the menu, which advertises oyster sliders, clam in abalone broth, and steamed/crispy/charbroiled fish. You pick. Full bar, yes sir. See all sorts of plywoody shots and oyster glory on The Facebook. [Urban Daddy]

SANTA MONICA— This is still pretty far out but sounds like a promising meal. Trey Foshee (George's at the Cove in San Diego) has partnered with Josiah Citrin (Melisse) to host a charity dinner benefitting the Bocuse d'Or USA Foundation. The multicourse, wine-paired fete will be held at Melisse on November 10. Joining them in the kitchen: Michael Tusk (SF's Quince), Gavin Kaysen (NY's Café Boulud), Michael Cimarusti (Providence) and Traci Des Jardins (SF's Jardinière). Though Foshee is still finalizing the menu format, the meal will be priced at $185++ per person with a $90 and $150 (premium) wine pairing available. [EaterWire] — DM

LONG BEACH/SEAL BEACH— Sour beer fans, listen up. Both Beachwood BBQ locations will hold a sour beer celebration, SourFest, from September 3 to 8. All taps in Seal Beach, along with 20 taps in Long Beach, will stream sours. Plus, each night management plans to feature a different brewery (local and national) with its sours. [EaterWire]
