So, this is Redwood Grille, a lounge-y indoor/outdoor traditional American restaurant within Santa Monica Place, previously Xino, now dishing a slightly elevated version of the expected: lobster tacos, ahi tuna tartar, burgers, roasted chicken, "aged days" steaks, and several fish options. Clearly, nobody is reinventing the wheel here, but the menu reads like an appropriate mall option. Funny enough, designer Stephen Francis Jones (SF Jones Architects) also developed new nearby competitor Del Frisco's Grille. Interesting that he took on both projects since they share a similar American ideal.
Anyway, Redwood Grille is presently soft open, with an official launch set for this Wednesday. It's also worthwhile to note that Redwood's patio has a pretty stellar view of Downtown Santa Monica, and happy runs Monday to Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. with $4 draft beers, $5 well drinks, plus $7 martinis and martinis. Just saying. Hours of operation run Monday to Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
